What types of yoga are there?

Hatha, Ashtanga and Bikram yoga are the most well known. Hatha yoga is the beginning step in the synthesis of yoga. It includes a science of bodily postures (asanas), deep relaxation and breath control (pranayama).

Ashtanga yoga focuses on a vinyasa creating a sequence of dynamic connecting postures, creating a flow between the more static traditional yoga postures. The focus of vinyasa is to create heat in the body, which leads to purification of the body through increased circulation and sweating.

Bikram or hot yoga is a series of yoga poses done in a heated room, which is usually maintained at a temperature of 95-100 degrees. A vigorous yoga session at this temperature promotes profuse sweating, which rids the body of toxins. It also makes the body very warm, and therefore more flexible.

Am I too old to learn?

Not everyone is flexible, or be at a fitness level they would wish to be in, due to circumstances. As a teacher I emphasize on simplicity, my ultimate goal is to help you achieve a balanced, healthy body and a calm focused mind.

Our restorative yoga offers non-strenuous stretches that helps tone and strengthen the musculature, stabilize and balance the circulation and promote circulation in all major organs and glands.

Can I lose weight doing yoga?

Regular exercises and healthy eating, a slow, gradual weight loss will just happen! Unlike any other sports, yoga helps the individual to bring awareness within themselves, physically and mentally. Be realistic and set a reasonable weight goal is an important first step. Small changes in weight can make a difference in health.
